I have heard more than one suggestion to have a go at a Masquerade theme one of these times....
I loved these fashionable costume pics so I'm posting them for inspiration and/or to see what you think. Should we? Would you really dress up to look all dashing in a mask?

Dark Circus Bash 2009

Here are the pics from this years party. We have a lot of fun putting this on every year and really enjoy the guests that get into the fun of costumes and food creativity. We truly appreciate everyone who made the effort to get dressed up and come. It means a lot to us. We've got some great and hilarious friends! No matter how diligent my effort, it never fails to hit me as I sit days later at my computer and download them that I regrettably missed some and/or have poor results of some I have. If you don't see yourself here, blame me. I am a pathetic photographer.

Looks like they disabled the audio because we aren't authorized to use it. It's true. So just pretend you hear the MacGyver theme song and then some jivin' 70's tunes.

COSTUME SWAPPIN'

I was thinking...
Perhaps you have items in your costume stash that would be useful to others... or perhaps you need something that is sitting quietly in someone's current stash. So I have declared this an official post for swapping costume items. If you are looking for something, post it here and perhaps a fellow attendee will be happy to share for the occasion.

I am digging 'Marie's hair - Never again do you have to say you can't find the perfect wig. All you need is a boat load of hair spray and paint. Pretty groovy, yes?

Costume Ideas

I know this was a different theme to choose for a Halloween party. Seeing that we are even wondering what to be, I figured you may be, too. So here are some ideas that have been bounced around to get the DARK CIRCUS juices flowing.
Think anything circus but add death and spooks- A dead juggler, a masqueraded ghost, evil clown, etc.
(and as always, if you are dying to be something outside of the theme, all freaks are welcome so wear that Darth Vader outfit with pride)

-The 'Strongest Man in the World"
-Human Cannonball
-The man breathing fire (and perhaps his date with singed hair and black face?)
-Sword swallower
-A juggler (He could be wounded with a cleaver in his head!)
- The gentleman who throws knives at the girl standing in front of a large target with the apple on her head (here's an example...sans the skank factor)
-Spooky clowns
-Acrobat
-Trapeze Artist
-Tightrope walker
-Bearded lady
-Masks/Masquerade! Dress up and wear grande ornamental masks or sophisticated spooky ones
-The dude wearing suspenders/bow tie manning the ring toss distributing stuffed animals.
-Mimes
-Magicians
-Animals: Tiger, Elephant, Lion, Sea Lion (You must balance a ball on your nose for everyone, though) and/or exotic animals like peacocks, snakes, etc.
-Attacked Lion tamer
